North Shore High School is a public high school in the center of Lantern Hill. Despite the city’s benefit from brand new facilities the school still has many of the same problems plaguing all American high schools, such as drugs, violence, and legal issues. The school's faculty and staff work hard to ensure a quality level of education for their students, but often feel they are more often called upon to be social workers, counselors, and even parole officers. The majority of the student body is made up of kids who vary between working hard and wanting to have fun with their friends. Any problem kids just happen to be the ones that take up the most time. North Shore High has a successful athletics program and its football and basketball games are well attended. They also boast a healthy competitive relationship with a local private school, Mayfield Prep.

OOC NOTE

North Shore High School is a public school but continues to refuse the concept of school uniforms. Despite this descriptions should be suited for school, meaning they may not be provocative or unfit for a place of education. No excessively short skirts, dresses, shorts or tops are allowed, nor are tops that expose excessive amounts of skin. Shoes must be worn and metal detectors make sure weapons (guns, knives, etc) remain off school campus at all times. Please RP appropriately.

School Sports
The purpose of the athletic program at North Shore High School is to teach discipline, self-confidence and leadership. NSH is a member of the Tri-Valley League, which includes private and public schools in Monterey County.

There are always things about a high school that make it unique, this is where those little commonly known facts and things are listed.

Doug's Friends

This is almost a school club, just a very very elite one. Doug Newman is the eternal cool guy. He always throws the best parties. He is always surrounded by very important people. Even the teachers like him. Anyone that impresses Doug gets invited to his parties and to hang out with his friends. There is no bigger honor at North Shore High.

Morris-Meter

One of the more interesting things that has occurred in the last couple years is the underground Morris-Meter Blog started by aspiring journalist Sophia Morris. Here, students are ranked and rumored about in various categories of coolness. Much like top 40 music, the rankings change from week-to-week and include one-hit wonders that made a splash at the latest party to the perennial favorites, like the newest quarterback. Doug Newman was placed in the Hall of Fame his freshman year.

Most students assumed that the blog would end when Sophia graduated last year, however they all found themselves shocked when, on the first day of school, the blog fired right back up. Apparently there’s a new ‘Sophia’ at North Shore High, and she’s not wasting any time getting her hands dirty.
