The scent of sea spray hangs on each breeze that ripples the waves along this peaceful yet popular boardwalk. Underfoot the wooden planks of the pier echo with your steps, if that is, you can single out your own motions against that of the crowds around you. Lining both sides of the pier way, shops and buildings have been built upon stilts, allowing them to rest above the waves, their windows offering a beautiful view out over the oceans beautiful blue waves.

  • People move along at a leisurely pace.
  • Tables scatter various parts of the pier, often outside cafe's.
  • Specialty shops, clothing shops, & tourist traps are all found here.
  • Colorful awnings along the storefronts create an almost cinematic look.

Overhead the fall sun warms an otherwise breezy boardwalk. It may be chilly, but it's pleasant at least. Perfect weather for a walk by the water or a cup of coffee and one of the best views in the city. Even Kelly isn't immune to such draws. Slumped against the seawall railing, just across from the coffee shop, the blond haired teen can be found, his gaze shielded from the oceans glare by those way-to-dark shades of his. In his hand lingers a drink from Ricky's, along with a shopping bag from one of the many chain stores along the beach front shopping strip.

The occasional cluster of students wander by, drawing his attention and an infrequent wave from the teen, though for the most part he seems content to watch the rolling ocean waves.

It was during some of Lizzy's rare free time that she found herself walking down the boardwalk. She was thinking about getting herself some food, or maybe seeing what awful tourist traps had been set up recently. The young woman wasn't sure which. She wasn't a huge coffee person herself, though she did indulge in it on occassion. Those random thoughts are what leads the girl to turn the corner, a pair of sunglasses worn over her eyes as she looks around.

She spots Kelly in her path, and gives her fellow student a way. "Hey Kelly. Shopping day?" the girl asks, taking note of the bag. Really, not a lot of guys hung out shopping, in her experience. Most guys she knew got what they needed and then drove home. So she was a little curious.

"Kinda." Kelly allows back toward the approaching Lizzy, "Isabelle's birthday was yesterday, and since I missed her party I figured..present. May distract her a little." He grins, perhaps a bit to deeply at the thought, though he does lift his cup for a drink, "And you know how it is..anywhere but at home. And there's like..nowhere but here." He shrugs, as if that were all the explanation needed.

He pauses a moment, his eyes sliding over her before he glances back again. Clearly Kelly's not the eye-contact type. "What you doin out?"

"Yeah, I couldn't make her party. Had a comp," Lizzy tells Kelly with a shrug. She'd have to consider if that meant she had to get Isabelle a present or not. She didn't know the girl all that well, but she was the queen of the school too, wasn't she? "Yeah, know how it is. I just wanted a little bit of time outside of the house. Also, I was curious if any new tourist traps had been set up," the girl adds with a smirk. "They're always adding something or other that's horribly cheap that the tourists flock to, you know?"

Kelly hums as he nods, "That's a decent excuse. I was on a date. And I sent her a less than appropriate video so.I need a peace offering." Again, he grins deeply before finally he turns his back to the surf, watching Lizzy. "I dunno..I honestly started blocking that stuff out a couple years ago. I'm not really much of a touristy type." Ya know, conformity of the masses and all, "Then again, I do surf so I guess I'm still a lame ass cali kid like everyone else. What you gonna do?"

"Ahh, so you do the other horribly stereotypical sport that California is known to offer," Lizzy comments with a grin. "And I see. Well, good luck with the peace offering," Lizzy tells Kelly. Because the guy very well may need it. "Why would you send her a less than appropriate video anyway?" the girl asks. Her sunglasses keep the man from looking her in the eyes anyway, so she isn't concerned about that.

"I'm not much into it either, but I find them mildly amusing see what they're trying, you know? Good to know what the traps are trying to do just in case you accidentally step into one, right?"

Kelly shrugs, "Like I said, fail on my part." He jokes but he does allow her a nod seconds later. "I dunno. Just felt like the thing to do at the time. As usually hindsight is 20/20, and I may need to be afraid.: he chuckles, glancing down at his phone with a sigh. "I .. need to go." He decides with a groan, "Family stuff. Bonding time." He even uses air quotes around the term 'family time'. Typical, right? "See ya later, Legs. Keep it classy." Because what is a conversation without a nickname? He pushes off the railing, offering her a small wave in passing.
