Stepping into the home you find yourself in the living room. Underfoot dark wood stretches the length of the room, complimented by light tan walls stretching to almond trim. A comfy brown sofa and matching chairs have been carefully arranged around dark wood coffee and end tables, creating a elegant feel in the room. On the farther wall a fireplace can be found, a large urn hung above its mantel while the rooms windows have been dressed by matching curtains.

Donovan arrives home after a long day, his eyes scanning over the living room in search of his mother. "Mom? You home yet?" He calls out after a few moments. He moves further into the living room after he removes his jacket, hanging it up on the coat rack. "Mom?" He calls out again as he passes by the living room fireplace, glancing towards the urn on the mantle. "Hi Grandma." He says to it before he starts towards the kitchen.

Alice is in the kitchen preparing her work day dinner, which is just another term for take-out on dinner plates. Today, it's wings and ribs from Ricky's Ribs and Wings. She seems in a rush, which may explain why it takes several tries from her son to get her attention. "I'm in the kitchen!" She calls out after the second attempt from Donovan. She finishes plating the wings and ribs before she tosses the empty containers in the trash.

Donovan steps into the kitchen, looking to his mother then to the plates and then to the cartons as they're thrown away. "You have to work today?" He asks with a raised eyebrow and a slight smirk. He returns his attention back to his mother before he speaks again. "I need a favor, mom." He asks as he moves over to one of the plates and picks up one of the wings, claiming the plate as his own.

Alice looks at her son as he mentions the favor, an eyebrow raised slightly. "Who did you knock up?" She asks simply as she crosses her arms over her chest. "I'm not driving you to the clinic and I'm not raising the kid myself." A smile forms on her lips a moment later before she moves to take up the other plate. "What is it?" She asks after taking a bite from one of the ribs, still looking at her son.

Donovan lets out a soft sigh as he lowers his head slightly before shaking it. "The Mayor's daughter." He answers her first question quickly and without hesitation. "I don't know what happened, mom. She said she was on the pill and that I was the only one she's been with aside from David, James, Mark, Thomas and Anthony." He says before he looks up at her. "And if you're not going to take care of it, then I guess we're going to have to leave it on the church doorsteps." He shrugs his shoulders before he takes another bite of the wing, returning her smile. "I actually just need an advance on my allowance." He says, biting his lower lip as he waits for her reaction.

Alice laughs softly at her son's response, shaking her head at him. "Damn kids today." She says softly before she raises an eyebrow at the actual favor that he needs. "An advance? Don't you get paid this week? And what happened to the allowance from this week?" She asks curiously. "Why do you need an advance? Did your car break down?"

Donovan shakes his head at her question about the car. "No. The car's fine. I got it washed, in fact, but I need the advance so I can take this girl, Ellie, out to The Black Orchid. It's a fancy joint at the Square and it's expensive. My paycheck and the allowance won't cover it and a movie, so I need an advance." He says with a slight smile on his lips as he mentions Ellis.

Alice's smile grows into a full grin which looks a lot like her son's grin. "Ellie? The girl from next door?" She asks in a slightly teasing tone. "You work fast, don't you boy?" She lets out a soft laugh as she studies her son for a few moments. "Well, it's hard to blame a girl for falling for you so quickly. You've got my looks after all." She takes another bite of the rib in her hands before she speaks again. "So, what are you going to do to make up for this advance?" She asks once her mouth is clear and her eyebrow raising again.

Donovan nods as she asks about Ellie. "Yes. The same Ellie from next door." Her comment about his looks causes him to roll his eyes and shake his head. "Yeah, mom. I'm totally ready for America's Next Top Model." He offers a chuckle as he finished the last of the wing, setting the bones down on the plate. As she asks what he's going to do for the advance, he thinks for a moment before he responds. "I'll make sure the house is cleaned from top to bottom, I'll take out the trash and make sure there's gas in both cars." He offers before he takes up a rib and bites into the meat.

Alice considers the offer made before she nods her head slightly. "Okay, but for two weeks. Until you're next allowance. Don't expect to get one next week." She says before she nods towards her purse sitting on the counter. "Get my wallet from my purse." She says as she sets the rib bone down on her plate and uses a napkin to wipe off her hands. "I'm going into work tonight and I'm not sure when I'll be coming home. There's a story that I have to work on and get in before the deadline tomorrow morning. So, it might be an all nighter. Will you be okay on your own?" She asks as she sets the dirty napkin down on the counter next to her plate.

Donovan sighs and resigns to his mother's stipulations, nodding his head slightly. "Alright. Two weeks." He agrees before he moves over to his mom's purse and gets her wallet out. He carries it over to her and hands it to her before he goes back to his plate and continues to eat. "Yeah. I'll be find here tonight. I got work later and homework to do, so I'll be fine." He reassures her.

Alice takes the wallet from Donovan and takes out the amount of his allowance and starts to hand the cash to him before she retracts it quickly before he can grab it. "Make sure you treat her with respect and dignity. I didn't raise you to be an asshole or a jerk. If you hurt that girl, I'll hurt you. Remember, I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it just as quickly." She then sets her wallet down next to her. "And make sure you let her order first and pick the movie." She starts to give him the money again before she pulls it back again quickly. "And if you take this, you have to take dancing lessons with me at the community center."

Donovan starts to reach for the money, but it's pulled back before he can. He lets out another sigh at her words, nodding his head. "Don't worry, mom. I know how to treat a girl. Besides, I'm a very classy broad." He offers with a slight smirk on his lips as she starts to give him the money again. He reaches for it again before it's pulled away again. Her next demand causes his eyes to widen slightly before he sighs and nods. "Alright. Alright. Just don't tell Kelly or anyone from school. Please." He says, knowing that her mom doesn't have many options for dance partners at the moment. "Please!"

Alice smiles as he agrees to her demands and she nods her head once as she hands him the money. "Alright then. Keep your end of the deal and we'll be golden." She looks at her son as she leans on the counter top. "When is your date and what time will you be home?" She asks after a few moments. "Remember that classy women don't put out on the first date." She says to him, a finger pointed towards him.

Donovan smiles and nods. "I know, mom. I don't put out unless they spend five thousand on me." He offers with a coy smile. "It's actually tomorrow and I'm suppose to pick her up at seven-thirty, so I'll probably be home around midnight." He offers, giving a rough estimate of when he'll be home. "At least I won't have a long drive after I drop her off at home… you know, if I don't get lost and all." He chuckles and takes another bite of his wings.

Alice considers this for a few moments before she nods her head. "Alright. No later than 12:10." She says to him before she checks her watch. "Okay. I gotta go into work." She says, taking out the tin foil to cover her plate so she can take it with her. "Be good and I'll see you when I get home." She moves over to him and gives him a kiss on the cheek and a hug. "I love you." She offers before she heads out of the kitchen and out of the house.

Donovan nods his head at his mother's instructions. "Okay, mom. Have fun at work." He says as she kisses his cheek, returning the hug she gives him. "I'll leave my phone on, so call me if you need me to pick anything up for you." He offers before she heads out. "Love you too." He says, offering her a wave as she heads out of the kitchen.
