Game Rules
Respect is mandatory for all players, admin, and guests. This game will not tolerate anything less than just that. If you are caught being disrespectful towards anyone, regardless of the means, be it OOC, on channel, or in private messaging, we will reap your characters and remove you from the game.
  • Despite the theme this is a 18+ game, therefore we expect characters to be apped that are appropriate for the RP that will take place. For this reason we will not approve characters under the age of 16. Furthermore characters under the age of 18 will have special rules that accompany them OOCly. These rules, regardless of OOC preference or feelings, are not open to negotiation. These rules can be found HERE.
  • Everyone knows that the worst thing in a RP game is people who pose nothing but short 1 and 2 liners. Don't be afraid to pose! Go ahead and take the time to write out a good pose. People are here to enjoy and be drawn into their stories, and most are perfectly happy to wait for a good, solid response with substance, rather than have rapid fire responses that they have to work hard to react to. In the end people will respond better to you and seek out more interaction with your characters if you put forth a valid effort in your poses. People who short pose (less than 3 lines) will get one warning in a discrete and respectful manner. If you still do not listen and make an effort to better your interaction, we will be forced to remove you. There will be no second warnings! You don't have to like it, but you also don't have to play here.
  • When joining a scene already in progress, you are /required/ to follow the same guidelines already in place. This means that if the scene is using a set pose order, you are expected to follow that pose order. You may not instill the 3 pose rule, for example, just because you dislike pose order. You should also wait for a scene set and above all else /page before entering/.
  • The admin are here to help you! We cannot stress that enough. Please, if you have questions or concerns or even ideas; feel free to message admin with them. They have all been here since day one, so they should have absolutely no problem answering your questions or at least have the ability to point you toward the person that can.
  • Theme-specific storylines are a must within this theme, however this game will not entertain the elements of rape, molestation or incest for any reason. This is not negotiable. There are other games out there for that stuff. Take it there.
  • Please be active. One scene a week isn't active. Yes, we understand that people go on vacations and real life can deal hardships and trouble, however, there are ways to go about letting people know. Admin expect that players will go to the necessary lengths to tell them when they will be away for a while; otherwise the character might be removed for inactivity while they are away. It is not the admin's responsibility to remember who said they would be away in conversation. If all else fails post your time of leave on the AKF board. The idle reap will be done every month. Characters who are nuked will be killed off to allow more RP for those layers who remain active. Characters who idle out and die ICly will not come back later in any form.
  • This is a text-based game and we expect people to proof-read their apps and poses and use proper punctuation before hitting enter. Use spell check! A mistake here and there isn't a big deal, but please put some effort into your poses. Complaints of learning disabilities and sob stories will not get you off the line. There is a such thing as spell-check.
  • Finally, for no reason will topics consisting of religion, politics, sexuality or race be permitted on channel. The public channels are here for chatting and helping newbies, not to entertain your personal beliefs or argue them. If you can't deal with that rule, then perhaps another game will be more fitted to your personality.
Alternate Characters
Staff have no intention of limiting the number of alts (alternate characters) that a player has. The only two rules on alts are that 1) The player keep /all/ alts active and 2) that no alts may directly interact with one another. you can spread rumors about them with an alt, or even know them but you may not have more than one character connected in a scene. Also you may not play a family member of your own character. If you need to, these should be registered as NPCs.

NPCs are not able to advance or earn Fan Mail.

Idling Out
We have a game wide Idle Policy of 30 days. That means if your PC has been idle for 30 days or more you will be nuked.

What you may also wish to know is if your PC has just been logging on for a connect followed by an immediate disconnect, your PC will be considered IDLE as well and will be @nuked.
Idle characters will be listed on the Announcements Board 1 week before they are numbed. Those who do not reconnect and return to activity will then be reaped.
If you are going to be on vacation or unable to connect for an extended period of time and your want your PC saved, you need to @mail staff or post to the vacation board. If you have any questions on this policy, please feel free to ask.
Those characters who idle out in Character Creation will simply be nuked after 30 days. Characters who idle outside the Character Creation for more than 5 days will be nuked as well.

Last Rites

What happens to an idled out character is left up top the staff. these characters may find themselves used as plot fodder, simply reaped, PKed or turned into roster characters to be adopted out to new players. Naturally staff do care about the feelings oand wishes of the players, so a nifty attribute has been provided for those who wish to make a suggestion should they idle out,
To set this attribute simply type +Lastrite <Choice>. Please be short and to the point with your wishes.

Examples:
  • Place me on the roster.
  • Kill me off.
  • Let me become an NPC.
  • NPCs
NPCs are the extras of a show. These are the people who are important, but not so important that they can be a member of the main cast.

A game without NPCs is like a movie without extras. Players are encouraged to remember that there are other people in the public areas, and that just because a PC doesn't do something, that doesn't mean a NPC won't. Use NPCs to make the background of your scene more interesting.
There are 2 types of NPC here:

    1) General NPCs: These NPCs are commonly seen or generic NPCs.

  • Family Members
  • Teachers & School Faculty
  • Generic workers and civilians in town

  • 2) Playable NPCs: here we have a code that allows players to create temporary NPCs. These NPCs can be used to test the game out (for those considering apping) as well as to fuel plots and such. see +Help NPCs for more info.
