Mondays. Who needs them? Certainly not Kelly. But he does need lunch. Seated at one of the outdoor tables shielded from the rain by the tables umbrella, Kelly and Ellis are..not really saying much. Kelly's arms are crossed over the table top cradling his head though his attention appears to be on the girl seated next to him. They are, for the moment, alone on the veranda. "I don't know. She was just trying to get under my skin. You know how Isabelle can be. Snarky, souless..a tiny source of pure evil." He yawns, "She was nice to Donny though. Poor guy." They lunches are on the table as well, Kelly's is currently ignored.

"Yeah, well you know she is. Cute new guy in town and she has to know where he stands," Ellis replies, fork idly poking at some of her food before she lets it lie and rests her cheek against one hand, elbow propped on the table edge. "She was testing the waters. At least it was just her?" she offers. She could have had backup which would have been that much worse.

Eti doesn't much mind Mondays, but the rain, he could certainly do with less of that, thanks. He comes slouching around the side of the school, finding a sudden uptic in the downpour a little more than was bearable underneath the protection of a tree. Rather than a backpack proper he's got a hempen tote bag with him, clutched under an arm as he hunches over it to protect it a little more from the rain. He ducks under the nearest umbrella he can reach, breathing a little raspily in the aftermath of the sprint and gazing out open-mouthed at the rain behind him before he turns around and offers a slant of a smile to the two whose tete a tete he's getting his tete in on. "Ah, hey, sorry," he greets them. "Mind if I crash here for a minute?"

Kelly chuckles, nodding against his arms, though he does sit upright seconds later. "Yeah, he held his own pretty well, all things considered. She tried to hold that whole missing lawn gnome thing over me head...which, I will add, has been blown /way/ out of proportion." He laughs, "I mean..lady, it was left in your yard AT NIGHT...of course it was taken. It was creepy and tacky at the same time. I loved it at first sight."

As Eti slips under the umbrella Kelly blinks, perhaps he never knew the other teen was there, lurking ever so close for his confession. "Ya know..that would be my excuse /if/ I did it." This is offered over to Ellis, a tad late. "No problem, bro....you need a..towel?" All he has to offer over is a napkin, alas.

Ellis laughs, "Yeah, it has," she agrees about the gnome. "I think that's what makes it so funny that she's still going on about it. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did really," she adds tossing Kelly a grin. Eti's interruption has her looking up, "No worries," she echoes her companion's response.

Eti did just sprint here from across the lawn, from grass onto pavement, so any confessions uttered were sufficiently out of context that he had no idea what was meant by them, and was a little too winded from the run to put the brainpower into sorting it all out. He settles his tote onto the table in front of him, breath still coming hard, but more slowly, now, so he's probably going to survive. "Il pleut des cordes," he mutters to himself, but grins at Kelly as the guy offers him a napkin. "I don't think I'm going to melt away. Thanks, though," he does take the offered napkin, settling down and pulling out a purple two-pocket folder out of his bag to investigate for damage to his homework, which seems to be AB Calc on the right hand and Physics on the left, the latter of which requires some dabbing on a corner, which he does standing up, pressing the napkin against the paper with his upper body weight behind it to help soak up the water.

Kelly chuckles over toward Ellis, though for the moment his attention is drawn toward the new face..and the..french? Kelly visibly eyes the boy before his eyes fall on the homework, and he cringes. "Eww." He decides towards the folder for Physics. "I'll stick to basic algebra, thanks." Kelly jokes, though chances are he's only passing that because of the girl at his side. "Are you knew..or am I just that lacking in perception?" His tone is flat. Yeah, he doubts himself that much.

"Would be nice if it let up," Ellis comments on the rain, though the comment on math causes her to roll her eyes at Kelly. "You're hopeless," she teases before her gaze shifts back to Eti. "New?" she guesses, "I don't know that I remember seeing you around."

"H'm," Eti nods his head once, briskly, by way of affirmation, then, content with the dryness of his physics homework, he closes the folder and slides it back into his bag, finally stepping about the end of the bench opposite the other two and settling in, resting his cheek on his hand and elbow on the tabletop. "New, this year. It took mom a little while to figure out where we were supposed to go," he shakes his head with a permissive smile, as though forgiving his mother that fault. "So we just got into classes last week. Faisantes du ratrappage." He digs into his bag, drawing out a small porcelain container, short and painted a mustardy yellow outside and fitted with a rubber lid.

"ADHD Dyslexic people do not take physics. It's illegal...and Mr. Hampton would cry if I signed up for his class anyway." Kelly lowers his eyes, returning to his meal..which is left over Chinese no doubt. After a mouthful he turns his eyes back toward the newer student, giving the teen a look over before he hums. "I have something like that. Bet you don't keep the same thing in yours that I do." He also offers Ellis a small grin. "I'm surprised you're here and not at the Prep." Monterey Prep, rather. "You trying to dress down your college prep app with us locals?"

Ellis ahs, nodding slowly, "Looks to me like you'll catch up just fine," she replies having taken note of the course work he had out earlier. As for Kelly, she just shakes her head, "Yeah, probably not. But he has a point," she continues to the new guy, "There must have been at least a dozen schools you could have gone to over this one. Not that its a bad place, just.."

"I'm sure that Mr. Hampton would relish the challenge," Eti offers charitably, with just enough of a twist to his lips to give lie to his words. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty wretched at it, myself. I took a semester of it in Nice and I spent half of my time trying not to be sick at the thought of how complicated the universe is and the other half of it cursing my thumb for not hitting the stopwatch button properly." He shakes his head, peeling the rubber lid off of the dish and drawing out an olive, which he bites into like a little rabbit, just the tip, "It wasn't really up to me. Not to say I wouldn't have picked it, myself, but it was really mom's call. And she was probably just trying to get under grammama's skin. She never wanted to move back here."

Kelly chuckles, "No, he wouldn't." Kelly mentions back of the teacher. "You clearly have very few classes with me." Says he who sleeps through everything. "But that's nice anyway, and two thumbs up for mom." Kelly, clearly pleased at the idea of sticking it to someone, seems to approve. At least that's what his expression says. "So, other than being super smart and /way/ to cultured for North Shore, what you do? Hobbies? You party?" because damnit, its lonely!

Ellis laughs, very nearly choking on the drink of water she'd just taken, "No, I'm pretty sure if Mr. Hampton would send him to detention if he saw him on the roster," she comments, "Sorry Kelly, no offence." "I know all about that," getting under the skin of grandparents, "I swear mine things at least half of what I do isn't right."

Etienne takes a deep breath, nibbling down the rest of his olive, then eating another one with a little bit more appetite, eyes half-lidding in a thoughtful, distant look, "Ah bon? At least mine are too busy squalling with the mother and fatherpersons to mind my own failings much." He offers the bin of olives and little cubes of feta cheese over to Kelly and Ellis, should they desire to browse for something tasty. "I don't see myself having much time to go to parties, with my courseload. More to the point," he adds, with a boyish smile, "No one's invited me to any party, yet."

"Mine live in Canada. They love me." Kelly allows simply, turning to eye the olives with a look that reads: eww. He doesn't say it of course, but instead waves it off politely. Toward Eti's words on his course load, Kelly lowers his eyes back to his food, "Dude, that's depressing as hell." He drones it, as if fighting off a lecture, "You're wasting your youth and unaccountability on school. You can study when you're legally an adult. Till then you should be breaking things and getting kicked out of The Orchid..because it's fun." Beat, "That's also what I have planned for this weekend. So, welcome to come. It's fun and they only arrest you half the time, the other half they just wave it off and send you somewhere else." He glances over toward Ellis.

"No thanks," Ellis says with a shake of her head to the offer from Etienne. "I wouldn't worry about parties though," she adds with a bit of a laugh for the boy's clarification. "There hasn't been anything big yet, not that I've heard of anyway," she adds glancing to Kelly for his confirmation only to scoff at his weekend plans. "You're on your own if you get arrested this time."

"Well, then I guess I'll see how many I get asked to, when the party season comes underway," Etienne jokes easily with Ellis, then, for Kelly: "Did you have anything in particular you were planning on breaking, besides the law in general?" Etienne seems more amused than alarmed at the prospect of mischief, himself, and sucks thoughtfully upon a cube of sharp feta while looking to Kelly with one eyebrow cocked subtly upward.

Kelly glares at Ellis, though it's all in good fun. "I'll call you every minute if you don't answer." He adds with a small growl, though back toward Eti he laughs, "She's OCD. She'd /have/ to answer..course that don't mean she'll show up. I depend on her love for me." Over the top, sure, but he does tilt his head to bump hers gently. "Neighbors have to be there for each other, yo. Other than that, I dunno. I'll probably just go harass the waitress at the Orchid and then go to the X for a while. There's /nothing/ happening. Doug doesn't seem willing to grace us lowly commoners with a party." Cue an eye-roll,

Ellis laughs. "I could just turn the phone off," she warns Kelly, though the smile on her face says she wouldn't. "And you know, Donvan's your neighbor too." She'll just shake her head at him for now, "He talks big," she warns the new guy, "But the X could be fun, you're welcome to join us."

"What sort of place is the X?" Etienne wonders. "It might be I've been too deep in my maths, but it strikes me as something I ought to be solving for." He bites into another olive while he considers the prospect of a night out. "I'll see how much I get added to my plate eighth block, I guess."

"It's a club." Kelly admits with a shrug, "Underage only but the owners suck at keeping the fun out." He grins despite his words. "Got good music, but it's on the east side so a lot of the more..meh," he waves a hand to indicate the higher status, "Don't go there. They like the Firefly..which is..okay." Clearly not his thing. "Feel free to tag on. We're pretty tame, despite rumors..about me. Ellis actually is a good girl. That's not bullshit."

"Gee, thanks Kelly," Ellis tosses out, shaking her head at the boy before turning her focus to Etienne once again. "He's right though, club, decent music. It something to do

"Alright; when are you two going?" Etienne asks them both, reaching into his bag once more for a seran-wrapped bread roll which he begins to unwrap with a noisy crinkle of plastic He folds the plastic back up as well as can be done, and then presses his thumbs into the middle of the hard mini-loaf to pull it into halves and then tear a piece from the bottom half, using it to wrap up a bite of feta.

"Friday or Saturday nightor Friday and Saturday nightassuming I cant get Ellis to Mermaid point." He grins, nudging her slightly with his elbow, but he does tense as he prepares to be smacked. "Drop your number and she'll let you know when. If your up we'll swing by and get you, If not..well, good luck with math." He sends a flat glance toward the bookbag. "Either way, welcome home I guess."

It's raining out, and lunch is steady ticking by as the three (Kelly, Ellis and Eti) sit on the veranda, shielded by the umbrella overhead. They're alone for now, though the occasional student comes out only to duck back in again.

Ellis reaches over to give Kelly's shoulder a shove with the hand she's not propping her chin up with. "As if," he knows how unlikely that is to happen. Try never. "But we can let you know when," she adds, echoing Kelly, expression softening from the glare that was shot the blonde as she looks back to Etienne.

Etienne isn't quite up on the goings-on at Mermaid Point, but he can take a guess or two as to the significance. He hides a smile behind a bite of bread and cheese, and draws out a book from his tote bag -- "Parliament of Whores," which is less sexy than it sounds -- which seems to have avoided any water damage, though he checks it over for any. Reaching into the bag again, he gets his phone and checks for service. "I just got this, I don't know the number by heart, yet. Let me look."

Austin emerges from the cafeteria door carrying a chocolate milk and a green apple. He walks through the rain as if it isn't raining, ignoring it completely as the water runs down him and soaks his shirt. He walks directly to an empty table with an umbrella, moving past the others, and sitting on the table, his hiking boots resting on the seat. He sits the milk down and with a loud crunch, takes a bite of the apple, stareing off into the rain.

Ellis nods, "No worries," she assures to Etienne. New numbers aren't always the easiest things to remember. She glances up from the boys at her table as the door opens again to see who's arrived to which Austin earns a bit of a forced smile. Kelly meanwhile gets a call and ducks off to the next table over to take it.

Etienne finds the number back in System Settings or whatever, and recites it for Ellis. Meanwhile, the strange sight of a fellow walking through the pouring rain as thought it were sunshine and little birdies tweeting all outside the little umbrella's width of dryness in which Etienne sits with Ellis and Kelly and then just Ellis and then Ellis and Kelly again-- well, that is enough to draw his attention. "Huh."

Austin takes another bite of the apple, chewing a bit with his mouth open. He leans on his elbow on his knee, and sighs. Squinting a bit, he looks around in the rain. Slowly, his eyes move to the kids at the other table. Lingering there just a moment, he sizes each of them up, takes another bite of the apple, and looks away once more.

The call only takes a moment, Kelly is back in a flash. Slipping under the umbrella again, Kelly slides his cell into his hoodie pocket as he takes his seat again. He also notes the glances back toward the other table, turning to eye the looming apple eater lazily. He offers Austin a equally lazy wave before his gaze slips back over toward his table mates. "So, what I miss?"

Ellis types the number into her own phone as Etienne reads it off, saving it for later. "Got it," she notes, turning too Kelly when he returns. "Nothing much, was just getting number for the club this weekend."

"And I was just using technology as a crutch to aid the failing memories of humankind," Etienne smiles easily, though he's certainly impressed that he can actually hear an apple being chewed on through several yards of pouring down rain. The noise keeps drawing his attention over there, though maybe it's not the best kind of attention. Still, if eye contact is achieved, he summons up a cheerful enough smile and a tip of a hand by way of a wave. "It occurs to me that when you text I'll have no idea who the text is from, even if you should tell me who you are," he realizes. "I'm Etienne, and generally have better manners than to wait so long in introducing myself."

Austin swallows, furrowing his brow just a bit when both Kelly and Etienne both offer him a bit of a wave. He just stares at them for a long moment, and then finally shakes his head just a bit, as if he can't believe they bothered to waste their time waving, and then spits out a little bit of apple onto the ground. He licks his teeth a bit, and inspects the apple a moment, glancing back at the other table. He watches them then, and takes another loud crunchy bite, chewing just as loudly with his open mouth as he stares at them.

Kelly is less socially graceful than his friends. Austin's staring earns a groan and roll of his eyes. "Ignore him. He's got 'issues'." Kelly even offers finger quotes up as he speaks. "I'm Kelly, this is Ellis." Kelly seems fine with the delay in introductions, though his manner suggests that he may have gone the whole hour without offering out a name.

Ellis could have easily conversed the whole hour without introduction herself. "Thanks," she notes, adding the boy's name to the number in her phone. "But I can introduce myself," she adds to Kelly. "But nice to meet you, hope settling in and catching up goes alright."

Etienne twists his lips to one side when Kelly scarequotes Austin's issues. Anyone who can chew so loudly and so intensely obviously has a real anger pent up somewhere inside, and if Kelly is dismissive, his own eyes soften in a look of concern. Then, taking a deep breath, "Eh, bien," he answers Ellis. "Je l'ai rattrape bientot," he punctuates the thought with a brief doubletap of knuckles on the tabletop. "Ah, soon, I'll get there soon," he repeats himself Englishly.

Austin scowls a bit at Kelly's assessment of his issues. "Good one, Black," he mutters, rolling his eyes at him then. He looks at Etienne when he speaks French, the scowl draining into a look that's almost intrigued. But then, as quick as it's there, he realizes it, and he pushes it away into a blank face, and he looks down to grab his chocolate milk, shaking it up, and then opening it to take a drink. Another glance is given to Etienne, and this time, the French kid gets a nod, then he returns to staring at his milk.

Kelly chuckles dryly, "No shit." Kelly returns in a near monotone voice. He too rolls his eyes, but at least he has Ellis to send a glance at. A few clicks slow, but he does remember her comment to him and he wrinkles his nose. "And I know you can, but you /didn't/." Take that blonde. He also reaches below the table to do /something/ to her, grinning lowly as he does. The French draws him in seconds later. "...." He doesn't speak French.

Ellis nods, "I'm sure," she agrees with Etienne on his settling into life in Lantern Hill. She sends a glance towards the one sitting alone, "That's Austin," she notes for the new guy's benefit since he hasn't bothered. But then there's Kelly, excuse her while she kicks him under the table. "Kelly!" Ugh, boys.

Etienne would beckon Austin over, but since there seems to be some animosity between he and Kelly he'll let sleeping dogs lie, as it were. He polishes off his olives and bread roll, packing the plastic wrap into the ceramic dish and putting the rubber lid on top of the dish, pressing it into place, packing it and then his book and phone back into his tote bag. "What time does next period start?" he wonders, checking the time on his phone quick before putting it away.

Austin continues to watch Etienne then, studying him as the boy puts his food away. His eyes move to Ellis when he's identified, and then he looks back at Etienne for a moment. Taking one final bite of the apple, he tosses the core off into the bushes and picks his milk back up. Chugging what's left, he stands, and steps back into the rain, beginning to casually walk back towards the doors leading inside.

"In about ten minutes." Kelly admits with a small yawn, "Which means, since it's raining that we get to go run laps..or do something else that's redundant and time consuming." Say the boy with two gym classes! His eyes go to Austin as he heads out, a small frown playing on his lips before he looks back to Eti, "He's quiet." He decides, the aggression drained now. "Don't let it get to you. Some people don't want friends." Beat, "Or maybe he just doesn't like me. There's some of that going around too. Some people just can't take a joke, ya know." Not that Kelly is exactly the joking type.

Kelly, Eti and Ellis are sitting at one of the tables whos umbrella actually works. Outside the small haven of dryness rain pours, leaving much of the veranda empty. It's lunch..or, it will be for the next 10 minutes.

Ellis sighs, shaking her head, "Its a wonder you make it to your classes on time ever," she comments. "Kelly, you were in the office last period. You have Geography next," she reminds him even as she turns her back on the blonde to tuck a text book that had been on the table into her backpack.

Donovan opens the door to the west hallway and into the open lunch area, late for lunch since it's almost over. Seems that Kelly's tardiness is starting to rub off on him. He scans over the area, spotting Kelly and Ellis along with some other people that he doesn't recognize. He starts towards the group, a plastic bag from the deli that Donovan works at in hand. Once he's close enough to the group, he offers a nod and a smile. "Hey guys. What's for lunch?" He asks, slipping into an empty seat at the table and quickly taking out the sub from the plastic bag and gets to work eating it since there's not much time left of lunch.

Etienne stands up, shouldering his bag, but doesn't make any move to leave, just yet. Instead, "I've got Geography next period, too, actually. I never made it there last week because I had to go to guidance to go over transfer credits," he wrinkles up his nose a little bit in disdain. "Can you show me where the room is?" he asks Kelly.

As a fairly new student, having moved here at the beginning of the school year, Jena doesn't know a whole lot of people by name yet, though she recognizes a few by sight. She's on the cheerleading squad though and that's helped her get to know people, considerably. She's without an umbrella but has decided to come outside anyway. The cafeteria was too stuffy with the bulk of the student body in there. With a journal tucked beneath her arm, she stands under the awning while looking out at the weather, making no mad dashes, deciding just to get a breath of fresh air.

Kelly ohhhs, nodding slowly as he blinks, "Oh, right. I remember now. It all kinda blends in together after ten minutes of listening to Alexander go on about school property and repercussions." He groans, "It was a /joke/." He sighs again, though Eti's words catch him easily enough, and he even nods. "No problem. I think I remember where it is." He teases back toward Ellis.

As Jena steps from the glass doors, Kellys attention shifts again, this time with the steady arch of a brow. "Hey Cruz...like your top." He calls toward the cheerleader, though his words are nice enough he doesn't spare her the wide grin, or the wink. Cause ya know..white shirt, rain..seventeen.

Ellis laughs, "I told you, just don't get caught," she teases Kelly, picking up her backpack as she stands and slips her arms through the straps. "It was nice meeting you Etienne, if I don't see you before I'll text you Friday and let you know when we're going." A wave is tossed in Jena's direction and she rolls her eyes at Kelly. "Donovan, you ready?" since they're both headed the same way too.

Donovan glances back towards the cheerleader as Kelly calls out to her, an eyebrow raised slightly before he looks back at Kelly. "Do you know her too? For someone who has a bad rep, you sure do know a lot of people." He says to the guy before he starts to dig into his sub, nodding with a smile. He glances to Ellis as she speaks to Kelly then to him. He speaks once his mouth is clear. "Yeah, give me a few minutes to scarf this down and I'll catch up with you at your locker?" He says to the girl.

Jena looks down, of course, when her top is pointed out. She rolls her eyes but wears a rueful smile and stays underneath the awning, making no move to dash over and greet them over there. "Yeah, yeah.." she laughs. Her hoody was in her locker, unfortunately. She lifts her hand and returns the wave to Ellis as she leans a hip against the school wall, just outside the doors in the relative dry area.

"So I get in trouble, I'm not a pariah." Kelly admits back toward Don. "Damn man, cut me some slack. Anyway, she's a pretty girl. Of course I know who she is." Beat, "and she lives next door to me." The last part is added with a grin.

Ellis is next to draw Kelly's attention, he even reaches out to thump her as she moves past him. "See ya later." He echoes her lazily, watching her with a muted interest. Interest that easily swings back toward Jena, who gets a smirk and a wave over. That's right..come on! You can do it. "Come on Cruz, don't be a snob. Come meet the new boy."

"Sure thing," Ellis replies to Donovan. To the rest she sends a wave, "Catch you later." That said she ducks out into the rain to head into the school halls.

Donovan glances back to Kelly as he speaks, nodding. "Oh, so that's who lives on the other side of you." He says, looking back towards Jena. "I don't know why, but I have a feeling that one of these days, you're going to get your ass kicked by one or more of these girls for something that you did. I don't know when and I don't know the reason, but I just see it happening." He says with a smirk, looking back to him for a moment then back to Jena to see if she'll accept Kelly's invitation to join them.

"Lunch is almost over, why don't you come over here?" The question is asked tongue-in-cheek manner, Jena doesn't budge from her protected position under the awning, wondering if he would accept the challenge or not. She wears an amused expression though, an eyebrow cocked upwards in silent challenge.

Kelly laughs, turning to eye Donovan for a moment before he shrugs, "Hey..there are worse things." He decides aloud, glancing back as he hears Jena's voice and..like a good teenage boy, he quickly pushes off the table, going over it rather than around it.

He's got stellar manners like that.

Naturally his arrogance knows no bounds as he approaches, his hood pulled up to shield him from the rain. "I knew you wanted to talk to me." He allows as he nears her, "But look how rude you are? Get me over here, and leave my friend all alone. What kinda of example are you setting for the new students? Isn't that against your pompom code or something?" Lots of words sure, but he hardly hears a single one of them. Someone has already gotten his attention through the glass doors..and those someones get flipped off rather blatantly.

Donovan looks up at Kelly as Jena calls her challenge to Kelly and chuckles as he gets up and walks over the table to her. As he does so, Donovan makes sure his sub is out of the way and doesn't get stepped on. He watches Kelly as he walks over to her, smirking as he calls out to him. "Don't forget to ask her out for this weekend." He grins and goes back to devouring his sub before the lunch bell rings. He does keep an eye on Kelly and Jena, watching to see if something entertaining will happen.

"Oh. You so completely missed my point, Kelly." Jena says with a hint of disdain. "I only wanted to get you over here, so I could go meet the new guy without you around." Lifting her chin, Jena sidesteps him and blatantly heads out into the rain towards the table where Donovan is at, offering him a grin. "Hey, it's nice to meet you. I hope you don't judge me for who my neighbor is. That's just the luck of the draw. Welcome to North Shore High." Tucking her hands into her back pockets, she smirks. "See you around."

Kelly grins, shrugging gently as she sidesteps him. It may be a bit disheartening...if he weren't already distracted by whoever is on the other side of the door. Whoever they are, they are the proud recipients of several rather vulgar hand gestures..hand gestures that bring one of the older teachers flying through the side door west hallway door, her tone shrill. "Mr. Black! Would you PLEASE show some small amount of decency? Some of us are eating!" The older woman scowls toward Kelly, who in turn simply stares black, blinking blankly until she leaves. To her credit..she did cause him to freeze in his tracks. Once she's gone, he turns slowly to eye his friends, blinking once more. "...." Eep!

Donovan can't help but laugh as Jena sidesteps Kelly after that oh-so-smooth opening line he delivered. As she approaches him, he sets the sandwich down and offers her a slight smile. "Umm... nice to meet you too." He offers back to her, looking up at her. As she mentions Kelly being her neighbor, he laughs and shakes his head. "Oh, no. I won't judge you for that. He's my neighbor too, so I'm in no place to judge." He offers with a slight smirk, glancing back towards the kid as he gets yelled at by the teacher. As Jena offers her welcome, he smiles and nods his head once. "Thanks. I'm Donovan." He says, offering her a hand until she put her hands in her pockets which sends his hands back to his sub. "So, since we're a few doors down from each other, I'm sure we'll see each other around."

"I'm Jena. Really? You live on the other side of him? That's kinda cool." Her accent is mixed but mostly a little Southern, Oklahoma/Texas area. Hearing Kelly getting into trouble, she looks back over her shoulder, amusement tilting her lips into a lopsided smile. "He's always in trouble, I hear he has a permanent desk in detention." And she'd only known him since the summer when she'd moved in! Looking back, she realized she missed the hand gesture, so she offers him a closed fist for a bump if he's interested. "You have that sub delivered here from the local sandwich shop?" Of course, she looks back to Kelly and sees him looking back to them, she offers him a wave and a smile. She'd definitely been teasing him.

Kelly removers easily, though he does send the two 'friends' a glare as he makes his way back toward the table, "Ya know..I think that woman has a crush on me." He almost hisses the words, but the venom drains from his in seconds. Perfect timing for him to swat at Jena's hand. "Don't flirt with my friend." It's a snappy comment, but he barely manages to keep from laughing. "Don works at New Leaf Deli. He apparently likes to remind the rest of us that our lunch sucks ass...not mine though, I had Chinese." Thanks Mom.

Donovan smirks and nods at her words. "Yeah. Unfortunately, so." He says with a soft chuckle. "But, I've only had to deal with living next to him for about two weeks now, so it's not so bad." He says with a smirk. "I haven't heard about the desk yet, but I've heard a lot about Kelly from other people like Ellis and Isabelle." He offers to her. The question about the sub causes him to look down at it and shake his head. "No, I went to work and picked it up. I got my car, so it's a nice drive." He says as Kelly starts over and before he can return the fist bump, Kelly smacks her hand which causes him to look at the other kid. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to hit women?" He asks with a joking tone. He looks back to Jena as Kelly explains about where he works. "It's true. I like to remind the school that I'm better than their food."

When Kelly returns, Jena laughs, crinkling her nose as her hand is swatted. "Oh I wouldn't flirt with your friend, Kelly. If I see one, let me know so I can make sure." Hearing where he works, surprise flickers in her blue eyes. "Really? I work there too, I've just not been there this week because we've had killer cheerleading practice." She shoulder nudges Kelly's shoulder and grins at him. "I just skip lunch all together here and get something after school. Total boycott," she grins.

Kelly chuckles, falling silent as the two speak, though he does offer Don a grin and a shrug. A grin that carries on over to Jena as she shoulder checks him. He reaches to give her hip a small pinch before, with a yawn, he drops to sit back on the nearest dry seat. He doesn't work at the shop, so for the moment he busies himself with his phone.

Donovan smirks as he looks to Jena as she mentions working at the same place he does. "Really? I just started a week ago, so I guess that's why I haven't seen you at work before." He chuckles softly before he glances to Kelly. "Why didn't you say nothing?" He asks with a slight smirk and chuckle as he shakes his head. "Some friend you are." He grins and takes finishes up the last of his sub. He looks back to Jena and smiles. "When do you work next?" This causes him to think of something else and looks to Kelly again. "Where do you work?"

When Kelly pinches her hip, Jena jumps and laughs as she watches him take a seat. As he messes with his phone, she can't help but tease him. "Girlfriend text you?" Tipping her chin up, she grins at Donovan. "Yeah, I've worked there all summer long. I work again tomorrow. What about you?" And then he thinks to ask Kelly a question she'd never thought to ask so she gives Kelly a curious look. "Yeah, where is it you do work?"

"Why should I?" he asks lazily, still typing at his phone. Kelly is distracted a moment longer before he finally lifts his eyes again, looking between the two before, with a laugh, he shakes his head. "You guys seriously think I can hold a job?" He seems serious enough. He does pause a few breaths later, running through his memory as his eyes fall, "I /did/ work at the comic shop for a week, but I closed up and took a nap. Then I worked at the music store but I got in a /very/ heated argument with the owner. I don't care what that asshat says, Miley Cyrus is not a serious musician."

Donovan smiles to Jena and shakes his head. "Today. I work Monday through Friday, so I suppose that I'll see you tomorrow at work then." He says before he looks to Kelly and chuckles as he goes through his work history. "Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised much about that." He says with a grin. "But I do agree with you. I don't think Miley Cyrus is a serious musician. She's like Demi Levado or whatever her name is. The one chick from the Disney channel. The one that dated Justin Beaver." Yes, he says it Beaver. "You know, Kelly, maybe we can get you a job with us for a week or a few days."

"I think you could hold a job, Kelly." Jena offers with quiet reassurance. "Yeah," she says, warming up to the idea. "You could work with us. It'd be fun. Why not?" Rolling her eyes, she laughs. "Miley Cyrus isn't a musician. Her dad was more of a musician than she is and he sucked." She wraps her arms around herself, shivering. "I'm going to go inside, it's getting cold out here now." Since she's wet.

Kelly groans, though a grin touches his lips nonetheless. "I appreciate it, but I think I'll stick to hanging around the shop and eating." He doesn't seem especially driven to work, though he does shift to his feet a few seconds later. "but I'll think about it."

Seeing Jena shiver, Kelly sighs, unzipping his hoodie and shrugging it off only to offer it over to her seconds later. "Comeon, I'll walk you." They do after all have the same classes. "Lunch is pretty much over anyway."

Donovan nods and chuckles. "I don't blame you, Kel. I don't. It sucks." He says before he stands as well, since everyone else seems to be heading inside and the lunch hour seems to be almost up anyway. "It was nice meeting you Jena. I'll see you around." He says, gathering his stuff but leaving the bag and sub wrapper on the table. "Kelly, there's something I wanna talk with you about after school before I head to work. Meet me by your car?" He asks as he starts towards the inside of the building.

"I only work for gas for my truck, insurance for it and to have spending money for the football games. It's not so bad, especially on pay day." When Kelly offers his hoodie to her, surprise flickers in her eyes and she smiles her thanks as she wraps it around her. It smells like him and she wraps it tight around him and smiles as she inhales. "Thanks." For the hoodie? For the company? She doesn't say, but it's probably for both. "It's nice meeting you too Donovan, I'll definitely see you at work and school." She looks between the two. "Want me to go ahead so you guys can talk? I'll wait inside."

Kelly chuckles, though Dons words followed by Jenas offer earn a small nod, "Yeah, go on.." he allows with a small pat to her back, "I'm comin." He lingers back as his hands sink into his pockets, "Whats up?" To Don of course.

Donovan waves and offers Jena a smile. "See ya later." He calls out before he looks back to Kelly. He waits until Jena's far enough away before he looks back to Kelly, speaking softly. "It's about Ellie. I'm kinda thinking about asking her to the movies sometime. I thought, since you've known her for a while, I was wondering if you thought it'd be a good idea and if, maybe, you could put in a good word for me?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.

Jena waves to the others, before heading back inside, jogging so that she doesn't get Kelly's hoodie wet. Once inside, she'll wait just by the doors.

Hmmm. The look Kelly levels on Don is firm, a glare even. A judgmental glare! Naturally it only lasts a few seconds. "I guess it's not a big deal. I mean, she's hot, and she smells good." Two good things, "None of the jealousy shit though. She's my Girl Friday." That said he nods, glancing back toward the door again. "I think you got a chance. And yeah, I'll bring you up a little. You're good people. No worries, yo."

Donovan raises an eyebrow slightly at the look that he gets from Kelly, but it's brushed off by his words. "I'm not the jealous type and she was your friend first before I came to town. So we're all good there." He offers with a smile and a slight nod of his head. "I appreciate it. Thanks a lot." He says as the class bell rings. "I guess I better head to class. Thanks again. I owe you one and a sub." He says with a smirk before he starts inside.
