Summary
Tabitha and Bonnie discuss costume ideas at Cosmic. Kendall makes an appearance.
Location
Cosmic Comics

One would think with the comic shop being located in such a large building one would not be so cramped for space. That is now, however, the case for Cosmic Comics. A true collectors paradise, this massive brownstone building, once an Exxon Station, holds so many shelves and display cases that sitting space and walking room are rather hindered in the deeper reaches of the building. With over forty home-published comics and a score of popular titles and more exotic imports, it's almost wall-to-wall with the bold colors and avid comic aficionados.

  • In the front is a set of couches & chairs for customers to read their wares.
  • The back room, complete with curtain, is reserved for role-playing material.
  • The cashier's counter is laden with dice and more costly figurines.
  • A board near the door holds fliers for local parties and band ads.
Log
Tabitha chews on the eraser end of an erasable red pen while sitting at a small grey folding table, a notebook planted in front of her and a slew of books scattered over the tabletop. She looks like she might just as well be in a library, studying hard and taking notes, but all the books are game books, and she's studiously planning her tabletop campaign, for if she ever gets players.

The distinct sound of a vintage Vespa motor makes it's way down the street. The sound gets louder until it's just outside and then the engine is cut. Bonnie hops off, smoothing her wool skirt and removing her helmet, like a starlet out of a 60's British movie. She makes her way into the shop and smiles as the doorchime rings. She takes a look around, not overly familiar with the spot. Her eyes adjust to the abundance of fluorescent lighting.

Tabitha isn't so fussed by the sound of the bell chime. It's a store, after all-- people occasionally enter it. And besides, she's thoroughly entranced by a vintage Kithbook: Redcap while chewing on the red cap of the erasable pen she's been writing with. It's when she spots a flash of red hair in the corner of her vision that her head snaps up to capture the sight of the elusive fae, the prong of the cap pulling back until the eraser-tipped cap springs off of the back of her pen and across the room, landing with a light tattering sound. "Bonnie!" she calls out, then, since that came out a little louder than she wanted, she adds, in muted whisperish tones: "Hi."

Bonnie takes a few steps in, attempting to decide in which direction to go. In a way, the store is like a library, except that libraries have card catalogs and the Dewey Decimal system. Upon hearing her name from a familiar voice, she raises her brow and beams a bright smile upon noticing Tabitha. "Tab!" She says, in an indoor voice. She even adds in a hand-wave as she makes her way to the girl. "Hey. What're you up to?"

"I'm brainstorming ideas for my Changeling tabletop," Tabitha answers. "I... there's a poster for the game up there on the wall." she nods toward the postings. "I didn't know you were into comic books, too. That's so cool," she smiles evenly. Quite possibly it's the opposite of cool, but for this little nerd's purposes, the adjective applies.

Bonnie takes in the words and then runs them through her Tabitha translator.. "Oh.. I.. have enough difficulty with real life. I can't get into those role-playing things." She says, trying not to make it sound insulting. She glances around. "I'm not really big into comics. I just... figured that this might be the best place to go to find a really cool costume idea?" She says, with an upturn in her voice as if she were asking Tabitha if it were a good place. "We only have a couple weeks left and I need to put it all together."

Tabitha tilts her head toward one shoulder a degree or two, lifting a hand to push back the curtain of her long, straight hair from her face. "But that's the best *reason* to get into role-playing things. I'm bad at RL, too." She even abbreviates RL out loud. "Oh, neat! Yeah, I spent a lot of time here when I was putting together my homec-- my, my costume for homecoming," she trips over a brainspasm triggered by memories of the evening in question. "But then I spend a lot of time here normally, so it's probably not statistically significant data," she sniggers. "What kind of thing were you thinking of for Halloween?"

Bonnie shrugs. "I dunno. Mom's probably gonna be celebrating Samhain in her typical way. I may keep the shop open. I'll probably do some readings, but I still want to go out and have fun. So I'll need a costume that customers can take me seriously in, but still have some wicked fun afterwards." She smiles and attempts to take Tabitha's hand gently. "By the way, I really liked your costume. It was *beyond* awesome. You've got quite a talent." She scratches her head with her other hand, running the hand through the back of her hair, tousling it freely. "What are you going to do?"

Where the hell is that slick steampunk gent who held Bonnie with such confidence? Now it's just this gawky girl in a batman tee with a hand that feels somewhat like clay when held, clammy and stiff to move, holding on awkwardly or hardly at all as a rosy flush suffuses her ears and numb lips whisper a stumbly "Thanks," while she watches Bonnie toy with her pretty red hair. "I didn't make it, or anything. I just put it together. All the fabricated stuff is stuff I have in my collection. I'm not that talented," she despairs somewhat. "Um, I dunno, Changeling's kind of in my head, now. I was thinking maybe Sluagh," she perks up a little when her brain can retreat into its game cave, and she even squeezes Bonnie's hand when she looks back to the books, breaking eye contact to find a good sluagh pic with her other hand.

Bonnie stands with Tabitha by a gaming table where a bunch of books are gathered. Tabitha's in a Batman tee and jeans while Bonnie is wearing a wool skirt and a conglomeration of tops. One of these things does not typically exist here. Bonnie lets go of Tabitha's hand, realizing how uneasy it makes her. "Sluagh? Why.. does that sound like some form of slug, and something totally unattractive?" She chuckles.. "I want something cool, but hot and flirty at the same time."

"They're... okay, yeah, they're not pretty. Not supposed to be pretty," Tabitha toys around one of the images in the book with her pinky finger, swallowing once when Bonnie lets go of her. "Um," she considers, of the given set of criteria. "I mean, anything superhero, really, tends to be, if not overtly flirty, at least, you know, pretty skintight, which, uh. Is that hot?" She seems unused to using that particular word. "But we just had superhero day, so that could be kinda played out for the time being." Now she's chewing on her pen butt again, sans cap, thinking on it, and looking over Bonnie in consideration.

Bonnie chuckles and spins around in her skirt, showing off for Tabitha. "Well, I think you did an awesome job with Homecoming. Does an idea come to mind? I can do the hard work, I'm just not good with the inspiration... As you can plainly see." She says, speaking of her current ensemble.

"I like it," Tabitha smiles, letting her eyes stray. "I mean, your outfit. It's like... modern biker gypsy... adjective," she burbles the words out low, almost to herself. "If I had hair as pretty as yours, I'd do like every Felicia Day character ever. Ooh. Have you seen the Guild webseries?" she wonders. "You could do her avatar outfit. That would be... I mean. Really. Really pretty." She's more at ease saying "pretty" than "hot," but in context it probably means the same thing.

Tis a slow day, and a rare one in which there's no game, no practice, and no real pressing issues to keep him in a pool or on a field. A hand placed over his mouth has Kendall, pushes the door open with the other. He's not a regular to the comic chop, but not a complete stranger, the...casual comic reader, something a step up from the daily/sunday reader, one might say.

Bonnie chuckles and nods. "I've seen it a couple times... The name's on the tip of my tongue, but. eh..." She shrugs. "Sounds like a good idea, as long as customers will take me seriously when I'm reading their cards." She chuckles.. "And then I can have someone carry a fan in front of me all night so my hair will just keep billowing." She smiles, leaning her head. "I understand why you pick these costumes, but you're really cute too. You should stop trying to hide it." She looks up and smiles as the chime on the door rings.

Tabitha looks caught between stunned and giddy, tipping up her chin with a smile, then reversing the motion to half-hide the expression shyly below the curtain of her hair. Way to not take any advice ever. "Thanks, uh." She sounded like she was about to keep on, but she stops, instead, when the doorchime goes again, and she takes a deep breath. "The billowy hair is all a matter of the way you walk, anyhow. You kind of lead with your chin in the opposite direction of the foot you're stepping with, and it's like insta-billow, especially if your hair's styled for it." She glances past toward the guy back there before returning her attention to Bonnie. "Would it be weird if I came by to get my cards read sometime? You must be really awesome at it."

A quite glance to the pair of girls, well ok more than a quick glance, but it's really nothing more than that, what with the whole girl talk thing going on and it's really none of his business, so he first looks over the band flyers, and what's being looked for, not that he could really do it, but,it's nice to know what options are out there. He snaps a few pictures of the flyers, mostly the ones looking for a singer or a guitar player, then it's off hit shelves and back issues, perusing, browsing, just keeping the pair in earshot at least, if he can't with his own line of sight.

Bonnie laughs and shakes her head. "I was joking, about the hair. But really.." She takes a step back and peers at the girl. "You could really pull off an Elven Princess-type. You've got great eyes for it." Upon being asked about the reading, her eyes go wide. "Are you kidding?! I'd love to read you sometime. On the house." She says with a smile.. "it should be at the shop, or someplace calm and familiar. You need to be able to relax, and.. well..." She smirks.. "You also need to be able to really listen, and to get advice. I can't tell you what to do but I can guide you." She smiles and takes a scan around the room. "Any books you'd recommend?"

Tabitha has a flier up over there for a tabletop RPG she's hoping to start. But since it only gives her online handle for contact information, nobody could be expected to know it's from her. Still, she's surrounded by RPG stuff, but is presently entranced by her conversation with Bonnie. "Really, uh, cool, yeah, I could do an elf costume. Maybe we can trick or treat or whatever together?" she almost runs out of air by the end of that question, so she gasps in some more, before "Uh, the Hunter Survival Guide is a pretty awesome read, I just finished it last week and I'm kind of wishing I never read it." She lets that hang for a second, then, "So I could read it over again for the first time," she squees over it a little bit.

Bonnie blinks and chuckles. "Is that a comic book?" She says, looking over the shelves briefly. She's interrupted by her ringing cell. She smiles apologetically at Tabitha and answers it. "Yes, Mom. I'll be there shortly. I'm only a couple of blocks away." Her voice turns icy and snarky. "Tell him I said hi." She sighs as she hangs up. "Mom's got some 'appointment'. I need to keep an eye on the shop. Gotta love being the daughter of the Town Pump." She says and leans over to give Tabi a quick kiss on the cheek before running off. "Come by or call me. We'll do that reading soon."
